Well good morning friends. Today at the moment I'm at Frankston, the first of quite a few stops I'm having today on Mornington Peninsula. Out here is Port Phillip Bay which is a huge area of fairly flat water covering quite a big area with Melbourne up there somewhere. Somewhere across there is Geelong from where I caught the Spirit of Tasmania early last year. This huge basin I understand is a bit of a rift valley with Victoria being pulled apart at the moment mainly due to all the tectonic activity happening over in New Zealand. All the movement of the plates over there is affecting here a little bit. There are earthquakes here but they are not very big. The movement is stretching out the land causing the depression here at Port Phillip Harbour. Today I'm making quite a few stops along here. I'm already outside of the city which is somewhere down there. I'm just exploring the peninsula today and it's looking very nice out here.

OK friends I'm now overlooking Sorrento towards the end of the peninsula. I've been scouting out the coast for a future potential walk I could do from Geelong to Melbourne crossing the entrance of the harbour by boat then hiking from here. It's looking pretty good for that. Anyway today I'm just exploring a bit and I'm heading into the town now because it looks like there is some rain on the way.

I'm now looking out over the Sorrento surf beach, over the open ocean into the Tasman Sea and into Bass Strait. It is very crowded down there and the weather is about to turn so now I'm going to head over to the other side into Sorrento Village.

I've now made it onto the other side of the peninsula at Sorrento Beach overlooking Port Phillip Bay. The rain hasn't started yet so I'm still exploring. It is still a bit crowded here. This is near the end of Port Phillip Bay with the end just a little further around these headlands.
