Introduction to today's journey
Today's journey starts with a dramatic sunrise over Noosa Beach before I follow the Noosa Heads Coastal track to the top of the Sunshine Coast, where I follow the beach diverting to climb Emu Mountain before returning to the beach and continuing to Coolum. From there I follow the coastal track to Point Arkwright for sunset.

Today's Journey
Following an amazing sunrise, I head along the beach to follow the boardwalk into the Noosa Headlands. The boardwalk follows the road to the start of the Noosa National Park, from where I follow the sealed track around the headlands. |
At the first point I reach Boiling Pot, where the waves pass through a chamber into the very turbulent pool. |
After heading around the different headlands above Tea Tree Bay and Granite Bay, the track descends onto Alexandria Beach which I walk along to the track going over the headlands on the other side. |
Heading over the rugged headlands of Devil's Kitchen, I get my first view down the Sunshine Coast seeing as far as Point Arkright when I'm aiming to reach by the end of today, and Mount Coolum behind the point. |
Once off the headland, I follow the long beach with the occasional stream flowing into it. Otherwise the beaches are very long with lots of people surfing and walking. |
About thirteen kilometres along the beach, I divert heading inland to climb to the top of the 71 metre high Emu Mountain, from where I get great views all along the coast. |
Heading back to the coast, I continue walking along the beach. A large bushfire has been lit on the other side of Mount Coolum filling the air with thick smoke. |
I reach Coolum, leaving the beach to follow the boardwalk and walkway over the cliffs towards Point Arkwright. |
A lone fisherman on the rocks at the bottom of the cliffs. A lot of people fish here in the turbulent waters of the breaking waves. |
I reach the northern lookout at Point Arkwright to watch the sun set behind the hills with Noosa Heads visible in the distance. Smoke from the earlier bushfire still fills the sky. |
