Today's Journey
From Maroochydore, I head to the mouth of the Maroochy River in the pre-dawn coldness under the full moon to watch the first light of dawn appear over the sea. |
The sun rises as I walk along Maroochy Beach which starts to fill with early morning walkers and surfers. |
Reaching the end of Maroochy Beach, I look back to Maroochydore, Mudjimba Island and Mount Coolum before following the path over Alexandra Headland and onto Mooloolaba Beach. |
Reaching the rock wall at the end of Mooloolaba Beach, I head out to the light at its end to watch the boats heading out over the calm water. |
From the rock wall I follow the Mooloolah River upstream exploring the numerous canal estates along its diverted channels. |
The canals are almost endless under the perfectly clear skies as I gradually make my way back down the southern bank of the river. |
Upon reaching the mouth of the river, I head up to the nearby Point Carwright lighthouse to watch the sun setting behind Mooloolaba Beach. |
When the sun has set, I head down to the beach from the lighthouse, seeking along the coast to as far as Caloundra as the darkness of night begins to rise above the horizon. |
I watch the waves breaking on the beach as the sky darkens. |
Continuing along the beach under the mostly full moon in the cool evening, I reach as far as Bokarina about half way to Caloundra. |
